DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
OVERVIEW
The department of electrical engineering is designed to impart the necessary skills required by individuals working in electrical installation works. Graduates from this department are able to utilize the skills learnt to further their careers in both industrial and private entities.
OBJECTIVES
- Student should be able to observe workplace safety and procedures
- The student should be able to identify electrical materials
- The handling and use of tools and equipment
- Learner should be able to explain power generation, transmission and distribution
- How to maintain electrical appliances
- The installation of wiring systems
- Student should be able to carry out lighting and power circuits
- Learner should be able to earth and protect electrical circuits
- Communicate effectively with others
Prospects
The growth of the construction market and expansion of the general infrastructure locally presents an array of job opportunities for skilled electricians to ensure that new building and infrastructure are safe, functional and reliable.
